MTOL is committed to spaying and neutering animals in Milam County—whether it be shelter dogs or personally-owned dogs and cats. We cover all the costs of shelter dogs, and we subsidize the cost for personally-owned dogs and cats to lower the cost to their people. How do we do this? Through sponsors!
We need $1000 or more in donations to sponsor a low-cost spay and neuter event. Not everyone can come up with the full amount, but here’s the beauty of this — we will match your donation with another one or two to get us to that amount! We’ve had people dedicate their birthday fundraiser on Facebook to an event. We funded all of 2020’s events this way, and it’s been wonderful. We’ve started on 2021 — we got half of January funded at the beginning of October thanks to Kenneth Thweatt Real Estate and the other half should be sponsored with Crystal Denman’s T-Shirt Fundraiser.
If you want a spay and neuter event to come to your community, we need not only a sponsor but a location where we can hold the event. The location needs electricity and water. Depending on the time of year, we might require heat or air conditioning. Ideally, the owner of the location will donate the space for our use for the day.
We have had successful events in Cameron, Milano, Davilla, and Minerva. We confess to a particular fondness for the Milano location — the city and Carolyn Vinton take such good care of us, and the facility has been ideal. Davilla runs a close second. Am I trying to spark competition? Maybe just a little. Our Minerva Fire Department friends are the best, and Sandra Ritch makes sure everything is just right for us at the Cameron Shelter. We’d love to hold events in Buckholts, Rockdale, Gause, and Thorndale. We just need a facility and sponsors. Contact us through Facebook, our website (https://milamtouchoflove.org), or catch up with us in person to discuss.
