Note: For everyone seeing this post for the first time in the email on Sunday morning instead of Saturday, this is the reason we encourage you not to rely on the emails if you need to register for an event. The scheduled post did not post like it was supposed to, and I had to make it go live after six am on Saturday — which means it missed the cut off for the automated email to pick it up fo your timely notification.  I apologize for the inconvenience this technology failure may have caused you and encourage you to register next month. Additionally, even with the technology issue, registration filled within the hour this month. We never know if it will fill quickly or take a couple of days. In this case, it filled quickly.

Barn Cat/Porch Cat Snip Day.  August 13, 2025, in Cameron at 502 N. Crockett (behind Magnolia House)

We now have two options on Barn Cat Day — the traditional Barn Cat pricing at $55 per cat

For Barn Cat pricing — $55 for each cat, you get the following:

Spay/neuter (injected pain medication and antibiotics)

Rabies vaccination (no certificate or tag)

Ear Tip (required)

Please note: You will have no proof of rabies vaccination, and Dr. Brinlee will have no individual record of your cat being treated. This is important for legal considerations. But if you have a barn, stray, or feral cat you are feeding, this is the program to prevent reproduction and protect the cat from rabies.

The minimum age and weight are 8 weeks and 2 lbs. (12 weeks is ideal, because they are old enough for their rabies shot.)

New Option: For Porch Cat pricing — $70 for each cat, you get the following:

Spay/neuter (injected pain medication and antibiotics)

Rabies vaccination (certificate and tag)

Ear Tip (required)

Microchip with registration and transfer

Please complete the form below to register. Complete one form for each cat. Please don’t register more than four.

Special Notes:

For residents inside the city limits of Milano: Your cats will be spayed or neutered free of charge. We’ll check your address and should already know this, but if we miss it, please ask. If you live on a county road, you are not inside city limits. If you live outside of city limits, you are not inside city limits.

The Milam County Grant has been exhausted and is not available. The budget for City of Thorndale residents has been exhausted for this year, so it is no longer available.

  1. It says closed. If true, ok. If not, sign me up for 2 barn cats. Not sure if male or female. Thank you.

      1. There is no list, Joyce. You just have to note the day registration opens for the event you want and get here early. This month filled in less than an hour.

    1. This month’s registration has filled. Please return next month on the day registration is scheduled to open to register your cats.

  2. If there is a wait list for next month I’d like to have 3 spots please please please

  3. Do you know who would handle feral cat rescue in Lexington (Lee County)? Owner died recently and I don’t want them to starve. It’s about 25 cats & kittens.
