It was a big day for the doggies of Cameron! They now have a place at the dog pound where they can safely run and play with each other and interact with potential new families. Those of us at Milam Touch of Love could not be happier for them, and thank our donors, Hearts Homes and Hands, for donating funds to buy the materials and putting the dog run together.
Chris and Kathleen Caso of Hearts Homes and Hands, along with MTOL Board member Meghan Land, came out bright and early this Monday morning and got to work. Chris designed the dog run to be made out of the parts of smaller dog pens you can buy at Tractor Supply.
The design features an area where the dogs can go in, with the door shut behind them, then be released into the main play area. It’s a good safety feature.
Another safety feature is that Chris used t-stakes, like in cattle fencing, to secure the run where it’s supposed to be, even if enthusiastic canines jump up against it.
Gratitude goes out toward the City of Cameron and the Cameron Police Department for giving the project their blessing. Sandra Ritch, the Cameron Animal Control Officer is reportedly thrilled, according to Meghan.
