Carlton
This is Carlton, adopted in 2018. He’s two years old now!

Happy New Year to all our members, friends and fans. Today is the day we declared to be the birthday of my precious white dog, Carlton, who Sandra Ritch rescued from a bad situation, and I took in the minute I saw those blue eyes begging me to get him OUT of there!

What a great way to honor the hard work of our Animal Control Officer and the great volunteers of Milam Touch of Love than to give them back something they could use.

So, my nephew Chris, his dad, and I came down to the pound to put shade cloths on top of two of the parts of the dog run that our company, Hearts Homes and Hands, has donated.

Here’s the entire dog run, before adding the windbreak.

With help from our kitty rescue team, the Fords, we completed the “roofs” and also added a windbreak to a part of the run, so the dogs and potential owners can escape our brutal winds.

Of course, we had to test it out, so I got a new resident at the pound, poor Bud, to come hang out and play with me in the pen. His obvious delight at being able to run and play warmed my heart. His incredible housebroken-ness also impressed me. He doesn’t like to go in his cage at the pound, so he had a LOT of pee built up. What a guy!

Here’s why we donated this dog run. Bud is a very happy boy, and I’m pretty happy, too.

I took some pictures of the current pound residents, too. There are some really sweet animals there, just waiting for a home and family. Don’t forget about them in 2020!

After we finished with the dog run, Chris ran back to our place and brought Sandra a beautiful new pressure washer. This should shave a lot of time off clean-up in the pens, and make the pound even more beautiful. Don’t forget, the Cameron Touch of Love pound can always use volunteers to help with cleaning, walking dogs, and other tasks!

Have a great year, and remember our animal friends!
