Milam Touch of Love is looking for volunteers. Ideally, regularly. What do we need?

Snip and Chip: Usually on the 4th Wednesday of the month, rotating through Cameron, Milano, Minerva, and Thorndale. If you prefer to volunteer only close to you, that’s perfectly okay. No particular skills are required. We will train you to help the vet team with pre-medication of dogs and cats, post-surgical monitoring, and assisting with various related duties — applying a post-surgical cone if needed, walking dogs, or cleaning crates.

TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return): Usually on the first Wednesday of the month, but humane trapping is carried out in the evenings and early mornings a couple of days before the event, so daytime availability is not required. These events are held in the same location as Wellness Day each month; however, cats are not always trapped in that location (depending on the availability of cats).

We need people interested in learning to trap cats humanely,  people to provide basic care for cats while awaiting surgery, and people to monitor cats post-surgery on the day of surgery.

Public Outreach: We periodically set up a booth at public events to share what we do with the public. Having people familiar with what we do to share with the public is helpful. It’s helpful if you are outgoing and enjoy talking to people to share our work with the local shelters, community cats, and low-cost spay and neuter for dogs and cats. These events are usually on weekends; however, Wellness Day on the first Wednesday afternoon of each month is also an outreach event.

Are you interested in any of these activities? Please get in touch with Bonnie via email at mtolvolunteer@gmail.com.
